As the sunlight rest upon my back

It is only darkness that I can see

While I damn this wretched earth

And six feet you’re away from me

Wedding Day

Like a giddy teenager on a first date I am anxiously waiting

Scanning over each detail for everything must be perfect today

I feel as if I am a trophy waiting to be claimed by her champion

A champion who will come at any moment and whisk me away

I watch through my open door, smelling the flowers of spring

Donned in a gown of the finest silk accented with subtle lace

Eagerly I wait to hear the words “Yeah, that’s my beautiful girl”

As a gleaming smile beams upon his handsome chiseled face
